Peak Gusts
Carolyn Cook, Chris Trapp and I were treated to the most delightful concert performed by
Concordia Santa Fe, a brand new wind ensemble. With vision and determination, they have
brought together northern New Mexico's finest musicians, particularly those that play flutes,
oboes, clarinets, bassoons, saxophones, French horns, trumpets, tubas, various percussion
instruments and a euphonium.
The music was eclectic, young, upbeat - both recognizable (Aaron Copland and Cole Porter)
and so new that we hadn't ever heard these pieces performed.
The guest conductor, Dr. John P. Lynch from Atlanta, was magnificent, totally delighted to be
a part of the performance and provided great energy to both the musicians and audience.
